City-Center is one of Sponda’s prime development sites in the heart of Helsinki. We are refurbishing City-Center into a pleasant, bright and safe urban centre that will serve as a shopping arcade, a meeting point and place of work for thousands of people daily. The revamped City-Center offers modern retail and office premises on ten floors.

Drawing on the site’s long history as a retail hub, City-Center is set to become Helsinki’s most dynamic retail and service destination - in the very heart of the city. Together with the rich variety on offer in buildings nearby, City-Center will set the seal on a unique experience. It couldn’t be more centrally located. With its extensive range of services and unique atmosphere, City-Center will usher in something completely new and different.

Light will be central to the City-Center experience. A massive glass roof at the heart of the building will allow natural light to flood the space, and will provide backdrop for five floors of fashion, leisure and sports goods and products for the home – together with restaurants and cafés. All the way down to basement level.

Around 4000 sqm of basement space will be converted into retail premises and around 4300 sqm of additional space will be created on the new third floor following the conversion of the old car park. The new main entrance is being constructed on Keskuskatu and the ramps will disappear and be replaced by a new glass façade and new street-level retail space in the third and final stage of the project.

Around 50 businesses and shops are already open in the shopping centre as well as over 20 offices. The number is growing all the time, as the project progress. The project is expected to be ready in 2012. We are endeavouring to minimize disruption caused by the renovation work and to secure the smooth continuation of clients’ activities throughout this time.
